Mac Microsoft 2016 Office Auto Updater Manual

  • Aug 23, 2016  Office 2016 for Mac 64-bit upgrade. Existing Office 2016 for Mac customers will be seamlessly upgraded to 64-bit versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote as part of the August product release (version 15.25). This affects customers of all license types: Retail, Office 365 Consumer, Office 365 Commercial, and Volume License installations.
  • I am facing a issue with Office 2016 package. We have a volume license package and a script to disable first login prompts & disable updates. Everything works fine till a user logs in to activate the office, as soon as user enters the credential for office activation, auto-updates are getting enabled.

As part of releasing Microsoft Office 2016 15.27, Microsoft has also updated Microsoft AutoUpdate (MAU) to include an interesting new feature: Automatically Download and Install. In MAU 3.8 and later, this feature will automatically download updates for Office 2016 applications and do the following:

  • If an Office application is not running – Automatically install and update the application
  • If an Office application is running – Prompt the customer and give them the option of updating later or restarting the application. If the customer chooses to restart their application, the application will be closed, updated and then re-opened
Microsoft

To enable the automated download and install option, open the Microsoft AutoUpdate application and set the Automatically Download and Install option.

Dec 29, 2016  I am trying to update to the latest version of Office (1500). Whenever I try to update it, through Microsoft Autoupdate, it downloads but it gets stuck on the verification process. Skip to main content. Microsoft Office 2016 not updating on Mac Hi! I am trying to update to the latest version of Office (1500). Office for Mac 2016: Disable Autoupdate, OneDrive Login, and Office 365 Login. I'm testing a profile now to push some of our advanced users to use the InsiderFast channel with daily checks, and another for 'normal' users (without Admin rights, ideally) to Manual check, External ChannelName, and DisableInsiderCheckbox. If Update Options is missing under Product Information, and the About button is the only option available, you either have a volume license or your company is using Group Policy to manage Office updates. Try Microsoft Update to get the latest updates or contact your company help desk. To download an update manually, see Office Updates. Sep 23, 2015  To use AutoUpdate, start a Microsoft Office program, and then click Check for Updates on the Help menu. Prerequisites To apply this update, you must be using Mac OS X Yosemite (version 10.10) or a later version, and you must have a valid Office 365 Subscription.

Microsoft is planning to move the MAU preferences to /Library/Preferences as part of an upcoming Microsoft AutoUpdate release, so the following defaults command can be run with root privileges to enable the automated download and install option for those future versions of Microsoft AutoUpdate:

For those who want to enable the automated download and install option using management profiles, I’ve created a .mobileconfig file and posted it here on Github:
