Enable Manual Update Of Links In Excell On Mac

='GMak MacBookAIR:Q:OutReports.xlam'!NL('First','Contact','Name','No.',$D11)

To enable the multi-threading feature, click the FILE tab and select Options to open the Excel Options dialog box, as mentioned earlier. Click Advanced in the menu on the left. Scroll down to the Formulas section and select the Enable multi-threaded calculation check box so there is a check mark in the box.

  1. This step-by-step article describes how to control the startup message about updating linked workbooks in Microsoft Office Excel. When you open a workbook that contains links to cells in other workbooks, you may receive the following message.
  2. Excel Mac 2011 Auto update of links between workbooks not working Hi An XL Workbook with links to another ( Source Workbook) that I have been using for years has suddenly stopped automatically updating.

The above is an example of what's in the formula bar for a sample cell.

Where,

='GMak MacBookAIR = my computer

Q= the source of the file on a corporate networked drive

OutReports.xlam is either the database or the intermediate output generation software used to extract data from the database.

This is a sample of the link, with some names changed to protect original info. As for how many links, there are columns A-Q x 84 rows.

Now, if you hit IGNORE LINKS, the file should open with just the data. That's the point of IGNORE LINKS. It works fine on a PC, but not a Mac.

I had this problem before and I asked the admin to do something and they resent the file and I opened it no problem. But that was a request for me. This file is part of a series of files going out to other people, each one getting a section as related to their areas of responsibility. I'm the only one reporting a problem... and the only one using a Mac. So I don't want to create an issue. The point is, this same file opens on a PC with the data. The same file I can SEE the data in VIEW in the Apple Mail - SO IT'S THERE! - but I can't OPEN it.... :-(

Hope the info helps...

Manual

Thanks!

How do I enable automatic updates of links for all users, even on other PCs?

I have more than 20 excel sheets that are all linked and need to update.

The problem is that sometimes users forget to click enable automatic update of links. How do I get this to be automatic on all PCs?

Check out this KB article method 4:

Method 4:

Enable the automatic update for data connections or workbook links in the Trust Center To enable the automatic update for data connections or workbook links in the External Content section of the Trust Center, follow these steps:

You cannot and should not have objects or processes managed by the trust center automatically do anything. This is setting a bad precedent. Instead, you should set the workbooks to prompt the users to update every time they open the workbook. If the users are prompted, they will be reminded to update the links.

Additionally, you can take a look at this KB article
